Do you want to become a lawyer? Certainly, you are not alone. A lot of people want to become a lawyer as it provides a plethora of benefits. Moreover, becoming a lawyer is an exciting and noble goal. If your passion is to help people, then it is the perfect career choice for you. But bear in mind that taking up law is not a walk in the park. It is not for the faint of heart. You need to have the skills to make it in this field. Should you like to become a lawyer, here are the steps.

Consider It

You have a lot of time to think about if law is the right option for you as you will have undergraduate studies first. If you think it is not for you, then you can easily change your mind. However, if you think you have what it takes to become successful in this field, then go for it.

Develop the Skills

If you are in high school, you have lots of time to develop the skills that can help you in law school and in passing the bar exam. Also, you need to have excellent oral and written English communication skills, you need to read and write fast, and be fully committed. Do not expect your college professor to spoon feed you or discuss the topic in front of the class. Hence you always need to be ready before going to class by reading the materials handed to you ahead of time. So, make reading a habit as early as now.

Acquire a Bachelor’s Degree

Before you can attend law school, you need to acquire first a bachelor’s degree in arts or sciences with any major in Economics, Logic, or Political Science.

Prepare for LSAT

Prepare for the LSAT or Law School Admission Test because it is not an easy test for sure. Take note that the Law School Admission Test is different from the entrance test of the law school itself. If you want to go to one of the best schools in your country, you have to strive to get over 160. The exam covers questions about analytical reasoning, logical reasoning, etc. Therefore, make sure to have proper study habits before your LSAT.

Apply and Attend Law School

Apply for law school once you have passed LSAT. Prepare all the requirements like your application form and transcript of records. Then attend law school.  You have an option to take more niche courses that can help you work as one of the privacy lawyers in your area.

Pass the Bar Exam

You need to take and pass the bar exam before you can practice law. Remember without it you can’t acquire a license. If you want to work in other states, you may need to take the bar exam there, too.

Get a Job

As soon as you get your license, you can work in any industry that you want like in media or government – The choice is all yours.

Become a lawyer and help people who are in need of legal services.
